Trips," was released in July. She's mom to two
teenagers, Ben and Hannah.

back roads. Recently she co-wrote a history
of Blacksburg's Lyric Theatre, tracking down
ghosts, underground streams and more. An
award-winning regional writer, she penned her
first Blue Ridge Country story in 1988.

(Casey Kerrigan), has appeared in Canoe &
Kayak, Adventure Kayak, Modern Farmer, All
About Beer, Twisted South, Scalawag, Deep
South, and other national magazines. He is
a frequent contributor to numerous regional
publications such as Blue Ridge Outdoors, Life
Outside, Blue Ridge Country, Shenandoah
Valley Living, Appalachian Voices, The Piedmont
Virginian and others. Presently, he writes a travel
and outdoors column for The Daily Progress.

Carolina. The "oldest trees" in North Carolina in the same piece
are the oldest trees in the North Carolina mountains, as there are
coastal-area bald cypresses that are much older.

Martha Stewart ("Singing in the Garden," page 73) spells her
name just like that.

The jumping-carp image ("Creature Feature," page 10), is not
