veryone loves a good story. Known as the
" Moonshine Capital of the World " during
the Great Moonshine Conspiracy Trial of 1935,
Franklin County has quite a few stories to share -
and more.
In April, we are host to a month-long
commemoration with the annual Franklin County
Moonshine Heritage Month - activities and
events large and small. Our focus is on heritage,
community and family.
2020 marked the Centennial of Prohibition.
Yes, that noble experiment which defined an era in
American history from 1920-1933. Today, Franklin
County is the proud home of three distilleries, two
craft breweries and a winery.
As a land of two lakes, four rivers and 10,000
springs with a landscape spanning from the crest
of the Blue Ridge down to the Piedmont with the
foothills in between, we offer a little something for
everyone.

it all together for you to enjoy.
