AN OUTDOOR PROPOSAL

Lily Terango and John Paul Miller were in
the same major at Virginia Tech, introducing
themselves after realizing how many classes
they had together. The following fall, upon
having even more classes together, John Paul
waited for her after class one afternoon to ask
her out on their first date. They ended up
hiking around Mountain Lake.
The couple loves the outdoors, so Lily
thought nothing of it when John Paul suggested kayaking on the Potomac. Pausing
on a small island, he told her to pick out a
fishing lure. When she turned back around,
he proposed. Lily later discovered he and her
father had planted a tripod in the kayak to take

photos on the island so they could capture
the moments afterwards. The proposal was
followed by a surprise visit to a winery and
B&B to celebrate.
MAKING SWEET MEMORIES

Their ceremony took place on the same mountain as the one they hiked on their very first date.
Lily finds it impossible to pick one favorite
moment, as the entire day was unforgettable.
Remembering her friends and family dancing
together in the barn gives her so much joy,
while she'll never forget reading their vows
or their surprise first dance as man and wife
that began as a slow dance and transitioned
into a fabulous salsa.

A PARTY FOR ALL

The newlyweds adored their live band, who
got everyone on the dance floor. Lily says it
was truly a lively affair. They even got the
groomsmen on stage to belt out a few songs!
Because Lily's mother was a horticulture
major at Virginia Tech, it was only fitting
she take care of their beautiful flowers. Her
parents were a huge help in the planning
process, and Lily says at times, her father
even got to play the role of "Bridezilla,"
such as taking over the preferred signature
drink request!
"We named it "The Marco" as a joke that
I think he and the rest of us thoroughly
enjoyed!" Lily says.
