PARTY WITH A PURPOSE.
For nearly 25 years, the first Friday of the summer months has
meant First Fridays at Five. Network and unwind with a beverage and live music. Proceeds benefit such area charities
as Mill Mountain Zoo and the Bradley Free Clinic.

enterprises are on board. Valhalla, Amrhein's, Blue Ridge

of fresh local produce,
plants, arts and crafts and
snacks. Start off with a hot
latte from Mill Mountain
Coffee & Tea, and finish
up with a cold beer at any
of several market-area watering holes.

RUN, ROANOKE, RUN! Get off the couch and lace up your
sneaks! Every year Roanoke hosts several great running events
and for runners and walkers of every level. From the grueling
Blue Ridge Marathon to kid-friendly events like the Color
Run to local classics like the Gallop for the Greenways and the
Drumstick Dash, they're a great way to get active and challenge yourself, all while
helping to raise money for some great causes.

BEANS: GOOD FOR THE HEART. Have a chili recipe that will bring a
tear (of joy or of pain) to the eye? Or just want to try a variety of delicious
chili recipes to benefit the Greenvale School? Dozens of teams compete in the
Virginia State Championship Chili Cook-Off every year, vying for the chance
to represent the state at the World Championship Chili Cook-Off. Activities
for the kids, craft vendors, a beer garden, and a jalapeño eating contest.
