As vice president of corporate projects, Patience O'Brien
has a unique position within Member One Federal Credit
Union, as well as an opportunity to truly connect with
their members. With design thinking, she and her team
develop innovative ways to find solutions to problems.

Melissa Stanley, assurance partner at Brown Edwards
since 2015, decided to become a CPA in the fourth
grade. She now has 25 years of experience delivering
exceptional value to her clients.

One way of doing this is learning more about their
members. With a background in counseling, O'Brien is
clinically trained to assess needs. With her core value
in service, she learns how to help members improve
their financial lives, as well as help Member One with
company goals.
"It's all about helping our members be financially
secure," she says. "By bettering their lives, we better
our community, which is a passion of mine."
With such a collaborative environment, O'Brien works
on an intimate basis with all levels of the business, from
top-level executives to the newest members joining the
credit union. This helps the business grow and stay true
to the company's roots.

Stanley builds meaningful client relationships and
provides the service, knowledge and business advice
that brings them peace of mind. She especially enjoys
visiting clients to learn about them as well their business.
Her main objective is to identify how she can best help
them meet and exceed their goals.
"My relationships with my clients are everything to
me. Each interaction is important and meaningful," she
says. "The trust my clients have in me is very important.
They are so much more than a number."
A Roanoke native, Stanley's priorities of God, husband,
family and career motivate her to work hard and act as a
role model for her two children, especially as a woman
in the accounting industry.

"It's about keeping grounded as we grow. I love that
I get to positively impact my community. I feel valued
every day in this position and I have a voice that can
make a difference."
