Since the master bath was so small, and the walkin closet much more than they needed, Wade moved
walls and changed the footprint of the space to make
room for Laura's tub.
"By installing double-stacked shelving," said Laura,
"we were able to make the closet much smaller. And it's
plenty of room for our things."
This change in layout enabled the Farmers to include
a soaking tub, a large tiled corner shower with glass
doors, double vanity with sinks, hidden commode, and
a small linen cupboard for towels and toiletries in their

The Zen Bathroom

new bathroom. But what makes this space different
from any other bath is the attention to detail, beginning
with the tub.
Laura's giant soaking tub takes center stage in this
new space. Longer than the average bathtub, this freestanding tub upswings on each end to make lounging
under the equally-impressive crystal chandelier a
tranquilizing experience. The LEDs in the chandelier,
recessed lighting throughout, and two windows provide
plenty of light. Half shutters on the windows provide
privacy as well as a view of the canopy of the pecan
tree outside.
Under the tub, you notice a grey oak flooring that is
not oak at all, but porcelain tile the color of driftwood.
And with small river stone covering the shower floor,
conjuring the image of a mountain stream, even a hasty
shower brings peace. With ceramic tile walls and a
glass back-splash in the recessed bottle shelf in tones
that complement the flooring, the entire bathroom
experience is all this working mom needs to unwind
after a hectic day.
"We couldn't be happier with it," said Will. "Laura has
definitely found her happy place in our new bathroom.
