Friendship, Hoff serves on
several boards, including Valley
Management Co. Inc., Virginia
Western Community College
(Virginia Western Educational
Foundation), Center in the Square,
the Roanoke Regional Chamber,
North Cross School and VHCAVCAL. For Hoff, these positions
give him a greater advantage to
give back to the community.
"I'm part of a great, not-forprofit organization and we have a
history of giving back. ... Being on
the [VWCC] board allows me to
see what those students have and
their options, and what Roanoke
gives back to these students to
make it affordable. My position
puts me in those meetings where
I can make a difference."
While originally from
Tennessee - he earned his
Bachelor of Science degree from
East Tennessee State University -
he loves Roanoke and all it has to
offer. His kids are heavily involved
with school and recreational
sports and when Hoff isn't busy
with his 800 employees and 1,500
residents, he's attending lacrosse
and basketball for five kids!
"Roanoke is a great size and
you've got enough here to be
busy. I love the outdoors; I train
and do triathlons, so I'm able to
be on a trail from my house in two
minutes. I love being outside and
enjoying it, but you can also enjoy
the arts. We've got it all, I think!"
