Q: Tell us about your business.
A: Sweetbriar K9 is the training company
of choice in Roanoke, Bedford, Franklin and
Patrick counties. We offer everything from
group classes to pack walks and in-home
private lessons. Our team not only includes
Obedience Trainers but also an Aggression
Specialist with over 15 years of aggressive
dog behavior modification experience. We
also offer specialized training for deaf and
hearing-impaired dogs utilizing American
Sign Language.
Q: Please share a brief history of your
company.
A: Sweetbriar K9 opened in June of 2020
during the height of the pandemic and
lockdowns with a completely different
business model by offering affordable
training solutions. Within 30 days of
opening the business, we added additional
trainers to meet the overwhelming demand
for our services. By stepping up to this need
we've had tremendous growth every month
since we opening. Unfortunately, like so
many people across the world, we were also
touched by Covid-19 and in October, lost
one of our own Trainers to this terrible virus.

Q: What are the products and services
you offer?
A: In home private lessons (we travel to
clients) * Socially-distanced group classes
(ranging from Puppy Kindergarten to
Advanced Obedience) * Reactive and
Aggression Behavior Modification Training
* Deaf and hearing impaired dog training
* American Sign Language for dogs * Pack
Walks
Q: What is unique about your business
that sets you apart?
A: We do not require expensive group
packages and our clients are able to pay
as they go. Our pricing strategy offers
affordable dog training that works within
a family's budget. Our Trainers are heavily
involved in rescue and volunteer at local
shelters. It was with that serving heart
we have set our pricing structure to help
keep dogs with their families that would
otherwise end up in local shelters.
We offer one free scholarship in every
group class we offer to a rescue dog in
honor of our Trainer who passed away from
Covid last year.

Veterans, Nurses and Teachers.
Q: What does it mean to be recognized
as a " Best of 2021 " award winner?
A: Opening a small, female owned business
during the pandemic was an incredibly
daunting task for us. We are humbled and
truly touched to be embraced by Roanoke
Dog Owners and to receive this huge award
when we have been in business less than
a year.
We have an amazing team and amazing
clients. We are so thankful to the Star City.
