Follow MACS on Twitter Have you heard about tweeting? No, not that annoying bird that is outside your window at 5 a.m. announcing the beginning of a new day. We’re talking about Twitter, the micro-blogging social media site on the Worldwide Web. The Mobile Air Conditioning Society (MACS) Worldwide maintains a Twitter site as a method of communicating and building relationships through the Internet on social media. MACS’s Twitter address is twitter.com/macs_worldwide or @ macs_worldwide. It is a great place for you to check and see what is going on at MACS. You’ll find links to blog posts, ACTION magazine articles, information about training and more. So why do we have this site and why should you follow us on it? Twitter is a tool that is used to send and receive short messages of 140 characters to or from friends, family and the organizations you care about. For users of laptops, tablets and smart phones it is a great way to receive updates instantaneously. Twitter users choose who they want to follow and in turn others can choose to follow you. Messages can be sent publicly to the worldwide web for all to see or privately to just select followers. As of this posting, the MACS Twitter page has 414 followers, (people viewing our posts) and MACS in turn is following 410 other Twitter sites whose messages we are interested in. Twitter has revolutionized online communication and has played a key role in fundraising and news distribution. History is literally playing out on Twitter with tweeters posting everything from vacation photos to accounts of the Arab Spring revolution in Tahrir Square, Egypt. Twitter is constantly updating its format and tools —there are many sites you can use to enhance your Twitter experience including Instagram for uploading photos and HootSuite for managing your tweets. Even if you don’t feel the urge to be a tweeter, you’ll find having a Twitter account is a great way to organize your information sources and you’ll be able to see updates in one place.
