Blower motor stays ON with key OFF
Some customers may complain that front or rear blower motor
continues to run intermittently after the ignition key is switched to
the off position. The condition may difficult to duplicate. It may be
caused by a faulty front and/or rear blower motor relay. A new and
improved relay has been developed to correct the problem. The
new part number is L1Y1-67-730. If the vehicle is equipped with
front and rear blowers, be sure to replace both relays.
the original audio unit may also cause this problem.
The audio unit provides information to other modules on the
MS-CAN bus that is used to determine if the A/C compressor
request should be sent to the PCM. The original audio unit must
remain connected and functional in order for the A/C compressor
to operate correctly. To correct the problem, the original audio unit
must be re-installed.
If the original unit was stolen or damaged, a replacement of the
original unit is called for. NOTE: A poor audio unit electrical
connection may also be the cause the problem.

Vehicles equipped with cabin air filters may experience poor blower
motor performance and/or a wet front passenger floor during or
after taking the vehicle through a drive-through car wash. This may
occur when the HVAC system is operating with the fan on at any
level and the fresh air mode is selected during the car wash.
This will cause high pressure water and soap foam to be sucked into
the fresh air vents located at the base of the windshield (cowl vent).
The cabin air filter will soak up the water and foam, causing poor
blower performance. Excess water may drip onto the carpet on the
passenger side. NOTE: Vehicles without cabin air filters may also
experience wet carpet without blower problems.
After inspecting the cabin air filter and replacing it if needed, advise
the customer to use the recirculation mode or to shut the system off
entirely during the car wash drive-through. ❆
