THE
Margarita

Your guide to some of the
tastiest sweet, salty and
quintessentially Arizonan
cocktails around
the state
If Arizona had an official cocktail, it would have to be the
margarita, the tangy salt-rimmed drink that originated...well,
no one is quite sure. Margarita is Spanish for "daisy," which
makes the daisy, a historic sweet-and-sour cocktail, a prime suspect
as the source. But there are nearly as many tales about when and
where tequila transformed the drink (Acapulco? Tijuana?) as there
are recipes for it-and places to enjoy it throughout Arizona. Here's
a sampling of a few top spots around the state to dine and say ¡Salud!
