Chapter 3. Passenger Special Plates Issued by Quincy Distribution Center: Cape and Islands: A. Definition: The Cape and Islands Plate features the Nauset lighthouse along with the cliffs of Siasconset and Aquinnah with a blue background of ocean and sky. Proceeds from the special plate fee go directly to the Dukes, Nantucket, and Barnstable counties as well as the Cape Cod Economic Development Council, Inc. and Lower Cape Community Development Corp. which assist in the economic development and tourism on Cape Cod, Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket. All plates have the first two characters, " CI " , " IC " or CP " , followed by either a combination of two numbers and two alpha characters or four numbers. These plates are Passenger Special (PAS) plate type and have a two-year registration period. B. Plate Fees: The biennial plate fee for Cape and Island plate is $110 ($60 registration fee & $50 special plate fee). C. Expiration Date: Cape and Island Plates expire every two years on a staggered basis determined by the last number of the registration.
