Chapter 5. Converting Out-of-Country License Germany License Conversion Effective November 30, 2020, German driver's license conversions will be processed by the Driver Licensing Department. They were previously processed by Enforcement Services. Customers should call 857-368-8110 and the Contact Center agent must then forward the call to the Driver Licensing Department to make an appointment for their conversion at Quincy Headquarters. Aside from this change, the conversion requirements and process will remain the same. The law (540 CRM 2.06(h)) requires that applicant surrender the license to be converted as part of a license conversion transaction. To comply with this law, Driver Licensing will collect the customer's German license at the time of conversion and mail it to Germany. Letters Sent to Customers with Both a German and Massachusetts License Approximately 200 customers were incorrectly allowed to keep their German license after converting it to a Massachusetts license. Letters have been sent to these customers instructing them to mail their German license to Enforcement Services within 30 days and to call Enforcement Services es if they have any questions. If these customers do not turn in their German licenses, the RMV will take further steps to revoke their Massachusetts licenses. 11/20
