Chapter 7. Hearings What to Know Before You Go * You should bring all necessary documents with you to your hearing. * Hearing length varies with the type of suspension and severity of the offenses. * Customers should arrive as early as possible and allow extra time. * At the end of a hearing, some customers may be eligible to perform additional RMV transactions. * If you are applying for a Hardship License, it's recommend that you arrive at the RMV by 3:00 p.m. * During periods of heavy customer volume, the hearing office may stop accepting walk-in customers. * Hearing sites and schedules Appeal a Ruling or Decision of the RMV Any person who disagrees with the Registrar's decision can appeal that decision within 10 days to the Board of Appeals on Motor Vehicle Liability, Policies, and Bonds. You have 10 days to appeal a ruling or decision of the RMV. To appeal a ruling/decision, you will need to: * Complete the appeal of a ruling/decision of the RMV form. * Pay the $50 appeal fee. * Appear in person for the hearing. Next steps for Appeal a Ruling or Decision of the RMV The hearing is your opportunity to present information (testimony and/or documents) that you would like the board to consider when reviewing your appeal. At the time of your hearing, your name will be called by the board and you will be asked to provide some basic information for identification purposes. Then a representative of the Registrar will: 1. Present what action(s) the Registrar has taken regarding your license privileges and 2. Support the reason for the action. This presentation almost always includes the RMV's submission of your driving history record as maintained by the RMV.
