Chapter 8. Veteran Plate Surviving Spouse Issued by Branch: Veteran's Plate for Surviving Spouses A surviving spouse of a veteran is eligible to obtain Veteran's Plates (including Awarded Medal Veteran's Plates) even if his/her spouse either never obtained Veteran's Plates or if the spouse's Veterans' Plates were previously cancelled. In order to be eligible, the surviving spouse must not have remarried. Family members eligible for the Gold Star Family Plates have been expanded to include siblings and grandchildren. Members of the military will be allowed to retain one or more sets of registration plates for the duration of their deployment if they are being deployed to, or are present in, a theater of combat operations. This change is authorized by Chapter 407 of the Acts of 2008. 04/09 The Application of Veterans' Plates for a Surviving Spouse (T21835-0714), has been created.
