It depends. There were no reported cases of Zika infections transmitted from mosquitoes within the continental U.S. in 2018, according to the Centers for Disease
Control and Prevention.
But if pregnant women or their partners will be traveling outside the country,
then they should be concerned. "There are still infections occurring outside of
the U.S.," says Diana Ramos, M.D., a spokeswoman for the American College of
Obstetricians and Gynecologists. If you're planning to become pregnant, the CDC
recommends waiting two to three months after traveling to an area with Zika risk
before trying to conceive.
