outpatient clinical
pharmacist, fills

Pharmacy located

to patients when prescriptions are
filled to ensure patients understand
proper utilization.
In cases when patients find that
they can't afford the cost of medications, the Meds-to-Beds pharmacists
can work with the patient's doctor to
try to find affordable alternatives. The
Meds-to-Beds pharmacists also can
help patients enroll in discount programs offered by drug manufacturers.
The hospital's Outpatient Pharmacy
processes payment for prescriptions
the same way other pharmacies do.
Most commercial insurances and governmental insurances are accepted.
Any remaining copays can be handled
when the prescriptions are filled.

Special Delivery
Bedside delivery to patient rooms is
accommodated on weekdays between
the hours of 10:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
A tablet with a mobile receipt printer
is taken to the bedside to process payment. Cash, check, credit and debit
cards are accepted.
Prescriptions also can be picked up
in the Outpatient Pharmacy located
off the hospital's main lobby. The
Outpatient Pharmacy is open between
the hours of 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. on weekdays and 8 a.m. to noon on Saturdays.
The Outpatient Pharmacy also stocks
a number of common over-the-counter
items that doctors may recommend
to patients. Prescription refills are

transferred to the patient's home
pharmacy of choice.
As familiarity with Meds-to-Beds
increases, more patients are expected
to take advantage of the service.
Patients who have experienced the
service have been overwhelmingly
supportive of the program.
"It just saves having to make one
more stop on the way home," says
Mary Werth, of Hays, who was hospitalized for a gallbladder removal.
"Even though you're good enough
to go home, you're not perfectly
healed or feeling that well. With this
service you don't have to worry about
making one more stop before you
get home." 1
