Eureka Park
Standouts
BY MARK CHISHOLM AND JUSTIN SIRAJ
Eureka Park, sponsored by the National Science Foundation and Techstars, is
the flagship startup destination at CES, providing a unique opportunity to launch
a new product, service or idea. The Eureka Park Marketplace was the biggest ever
with nearly 600 startups from all over the globe. i3 spoke to 10 standout exhibitors eager to show their innovative ideas to attendees and investors.

1. blue by Riiot Labs
Belgium-based Riiot Labs
lets homeowners monitor
their pool with blue, the
SMART POOL ANALYZER. As
a connected device, blue
analyzes water quality 24/7
such as pH levels, temperatures, active chlorine and
salinity every 20 minutes.
This information helps
prevent corrosion, calcium
scaling and other harmful
situations from surfacing
in the pool. "We process
the data and then we send
back the information to
the user's smartphone,
offering tips and advice
to maintain perfect water
quality," explained Bernard
Vonèche, marketing
manager at Riiot Labs.
Available in Europe, blue
will be available in the U.S.
this summer.

2. Starship
Technologies
Created by Ahti Heinla
and Janus Friis, Starship
Technologies showed off
its DELIVERY ROBOT. It
features a storage compartment that can only be
opened by the owner and
nobody else. "It delivers
parcels, groceries and
takeaway food at a radius
of one to two miles, and
can travel on sidewalks at
about four miles per hour,"
said Henry Harris-Burland of
Starship Technologies. "This
particular model has been
tested in 59 cities and is
doing daily robotic deliveries
in four cities in Europe." The
robot combines GPS and
computer vision to pinpoint
its exact location to the
nearest inch and has a 'situational awareness bubble'
around it with nine cameras
and ultrasonic sensors that
detect obstacles.

3. Catspad

4. Moovlab

5. Phonotonic

Catspad, of Toulouse,
France, showed its

Moovlab's Boxing Fitness
2.0 platform boosts
efficiency, motivation
and fun during workouts
at the gym by digitizing
boxing, kicking, punching
and overall fitness. BOXING
FITNESS 2.0 is a hardware
solution that aims to
bring a new dimension of
smart and virtual health
and fitness through this
new platform. "Moovlab
is a startup that creates
sensor applications to
measure physical activity
at fitness centers,"
said Moovlab's Laurent
Freytrich. "With our boxing
application you can see the
number of punches you've
thrown, the reaction speed,
punch speed, acceleration
and calories burned." In its
first year, Moovlab's goal is
to work with fitness centers
and transform the way
athletes train into a more
connected experience.

First launched at CES
2015, Phonotonic returned
for the third time with an
improved version of its

SMART CAT FEEDER AND
WATER DISPENSER that

allows a cat owner to
schedule their pet's meals
via the Catspad smartphone app, available for
iOS and Android. Catspad
also tracks the remaining
supply of food and water
and notifies the user should
supplies run low. Multiple
cats? No problem. Catspad
can identify one or several
cats, either manually or
automatically, by detecting
the chips on their collars,
said Julie Leleu, co-founder
and CEO of Catspad.
Following a successful
Kickstarter campaign,
Catspad will be available
globally in June 2017.
Catspad was selected as
a 2017 Innovations Award
Honoree in the Smart
Home category.

HANDHELD, MOTION-BASED
MUSIC PLAYER that can

match music to any activity.
Phonotonic allows a user's
movement, while holding
the device, to determine
tempo and rhythm. It
features a personalized app
focused on sharing and
the addition of Phono.snap
to the app makes sharing
audio or video even easier.
"Phonotonic changes the
way you enjoy music to
make it more personal and
to fit with who you are and
what you do. It allows you
to create and control the
music in real time just with
your moves," explained
Mélanie Charron, Photonic
marketing manager. Based
in Paris, France, Phonotonic
is available in Europe, Japan
and the U.S.
