Philips showed a number
of connected health products,
including the Sonicare connected toothbrush, winner
of a 2017 CES Innovation Award.
"Besides the physical products,
we want to show the programs
surrounding the products,"
explained Jeroen Brouwer,
director of business development at Philips. "The products
are a part of the programs,
to help people to change their
lifestyle. It helps people to avoid
chronic disease, but it also
helps to reduce the cost of
the healthcare system."
athenahealth
A cloud-based, networkenabled services platform
for health care, athenahealth
covers everything from billing
to patient communication
and electronic health records.
"We're here to show the transition to value-based care,
putting the patient at the
center of their care management," said Greg Carey, senior
manager of government &
regulatory affairs at athenahealth. "We're here to demonstrate the progress that the
private sector is making.

It's important for government
to allow room for innovators
and small companies to enter
the space and bring new,
twenty-first century technology to health care."
EverFi
Education technology company EverFi provides students of all ages with critical
skills that they need to thrive
in life. "Our programs and
platforms provide the skills
that aren't being taught, such
as financial education, college affordability, STEM learning and digital literacy,"
explained EverFi's Monique
Waters, senior director of
corporate communications
at EverFi. She explained that
education technology can
also be used to address current health crises. "We're
working with a number of
attorney generals on how to
address opioid addiction prevention through education
technology," she added.

NVIDIA
NVIDIA focused on artificial
intelligence (AI), showing off
vignettes demonstrating the
company's work in this area.
"We have three scenarios
that we talk about: how we're
bringing AI to the enterprise,
how we're bringing AI to the car,
and how we're bringing AI to
drones and other devices,"
explained Ned Finkle, vice president of external affairs, NVIDIA.
The company also is partnering
with auto manufacturers to
provide the AI to fuel self-driving
cars. NVIDIA is working with
more than 85 companies
in the industry.

The Innovation Scorecard
illuminates the bright spots
of innovation in America and
highlights areas for improvement for individual states.
The Innovation Scorecard
grades every state on ten quantitative and qualitative criteria
and assigns each to one of
four categories - Innovation
Champion, Innovation Leader,
Innovation Adopter or Modest
