Artificial Intelligence (AI)

As AI becomes more ubiquitous, it also
presents questions about jobs, bias,
cybersecurity and other serious issues.
CTA is a leading voice on AI issues on
Capitol Hill, working with industry and
government to mitigate biased outcomes from AI algorithms, ensure adequate data security and prepare the
American workforce for new opportunities created by AI.
To lay the groundwork for prudent
AI policy, CTA launched an AI working
group to address questions around this
technology and help guide CTA's work
on policy issues. CTA also hosts a series
of AI educational events for members of
Congress and staff.

TA's tech agenda calls on policymakers to support
new technologies and innovations - such as artificial intelligence, the sharing economy, and selfdriving vehicles - which are threatened by overreaching or
outdated rules from local, state and federal governments.
To protect new technology, CTA organizes grassroots advocacy campaigns and works with coalitions to protect the
innovation economy from laws and rules which delay,
restrict or ban its development.

International trade plays a vital role in
the consumer tech sector and the U.S.
economy. But in an attempt to target
unfair Chinese trade practices, the
White House enacted steep tariffs
on Chinese technology products and
components.
Unfair trade practices must be
addressed, but CTA believes the solution is not to put a new tax on U.S.
businesses and force consumers to pay
more for the tech products they need.
CTA advocates for more effective and
targeted trade policy approaches while
organizing important voices in the
tech community to show government
officials how tariffs negatively impact
our country.

global leadership in innovation:
diversity, the ratio of female-tomale employees in the workplace, immigrants as a share of
the national population, and freedom of thought and expression.
