The all-digital CES 2021 provided a dynamic platform for the auto industry.
Indeed, there were more than 152 exhibitors showing off car tech innovations
online, and those included a range of new electrified and self-driving cars
from both established brands and recent entrants. Supporting technologies,
including new and upgraded sensing and computing systems, were spotlighted, too.
Moreover, CTA's own research into the future of transportation finds
the sector heating up and benefitting from advances in other technology arenas.
To be sure, " we've been talking about a lot of these things for several
years, " said Steve Koenig, vice president of research, at CTA's 2021
Technology Trends to Watch press conference that helped kick off the
show on January 11. But there's still a " what's new " component, starting with C-V2X (cellular vehicle-to-everything) technology, which is
beginning to be factory-installed in new vehicles plus benefiting
