SARAH A. SCHMALZLE, MD
Sarah A. Schmalzle,
MD, is an assistant professor
of medicine at
the University of
Maryland School
of Medicine. She is
also the associate
program director of
the internal medicine program and
medical director of
the University of
Maryland Center for Infectious
Diseases at UMMC
Midtown Campus.
The UM Center for Infectious Diseases specializes in
preventing, treating and managing a range of illnesses,
including hepatitis C, HIV and meningitis, with a focus
on good patient care. Dr. Schmalzle says, "The best care
is patient-centered, empathetic, comprehensive and
multidisciplinary. It addresses patients' psychosocial
needs in addition to their medical ailments."
Dr. Schmalzle completed her residency at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. She earned her
medical degree from Sidney Kimmel Medical College of
Thomas Jefferson University and a bachelor's degree in
cell biology and biochemistry from Bucknell University.
