A wise physician once told me that actively
taking care of your health is one of the most
signiﬁcant things you can do to live a longer,
healthier life. Over time, his words have not only
resonated with me, but also have become much more
meaningful and relevant.
Proactive health care can begin with something
as simple as taking an aspirin every day if you've had
a heart attack or stroke. It can also involve routine
exercise to manage your weight. Or it can involve taking
classes and learning to better manage diabetes or other
chronic conditions.
Since my ﬁrst days at Gwinnett Medical Center, I have been impressed with
the resources we make available to the community. Beyond the technology and
physicians, these resources include a wide array of complimentary classes, a
network of nurses who work in and through faith communities, and a team of
athletic trainers who support high schools and recreational leagues throughout
metro Atlanta. All of these eﬀorts are designed to help individuals maintain
and improve quality of life.
But we're not stopping there. We are continually evaluating our current
programs, reﬁning and tailoring them to the needs of this community. And
we're also working closely with partner organizations to better understand the
health challenges we face as a community to create new programs to match
those needs.
These programs are created with you and your family in mind. We are
dedicated to making expert health care and helpful resources more accessible for
all members of our community. While health care is just one component of life,
it's one that has a signiﬁcant impact. I encourage you to learn more about how
GMC is supporting your lasting health with these resources and many others.
