WE'RE HERE WHEN YOU NEED US
Summer is here! Time to take advantage of the longer days and
warmer temperatures. But the beautiful weather also means that
the injury season is upon us.
Walking, running, playing sports, cleaning the garage or gardening-
summer usually brings more physical activity, and it's when our emergency
departments and urgent care centers see the most visits.
You can enjoy the benefits of the season, all while playing it safe.
Going outside? Take five to apply sunscreen of at least SPF 30. See page 40
to learn how.
First time back on the courts in a year? Check with your doctor before
picking up your racket. Gradually work your way back into shape and build
up to the task. When you overdo it, come see us. A nagging backache, sore
knees and pain in areas of your body you never knew existed-these are not
uncommon ailments, and they're ones our sports medicine and rehab specialists encounter with great regularity as each season transitions to the next.
Vacation in sight? Don't forget to check on any vaccinations you might
need or to pick up medications for altitude and motion sickness.
