But what if you don't know where to begin? "Sometimes the key to finding a workout routine is knowing what type of person you are," says Liz Joy, MD, past president of the American College of Sports Medicine. If you're the type who prefers the company of dogs over people, for example, you might enjoy walking for exercise (and you may already be doing that with your furry friend). If your grandkids know you as the fun-loving "grammy" who plays games with them in the yard, you're already participating in an effective form of exercise. "I always start with a simple question: What do you like to do?" Joy says. And when you have your answer, you're one step closer to identifying what might get you moving, because it makes you happy. Discovering your "workout personality" can help you in this process. Take this quiz to get started.
