REGIONAL ROUNDUP 1 Highlights and Happenings 2 The people making a difference around B.C. 3 4 1. Pipe Up for Cancer raised over $39,000 in support of brain cancer research. The event came to life to honour SFU bagpiper Andrew Bonar, who is considered one of the world's best bagpipers, and is currently undergoing treatment for brain cancer. The fundraising culminated with a special performance by the SFU Pipe Band. 2. Over $13,000 raised for cancer research and a life-long memory resulted when the community rallied to support Darlene, whose cancer reached an incurable stage. Pulling out all the stops, friends rallied to make her car-fanatic son's dream of a "cool car weekend with mom" come true with a priceless NASCAR experience in Daytona. 3. Taste for Life raised over $80,000 for oral cancer research under the committed leadership of event chair Brenda Currie. 4. Ashley Curtis' Voices for a Cure dinner and auction event in Kamloops paid tribute to her stepfather's cancer journey, raising over $5,500 in support of head and neck cancer research at the BC Cancer Agency.
