I am going to be in Tokyo for three days in the fall.
What are the sights I absolutely must not miss?
There is a beautiful teahouse in the middle of the pond at
Hama-rikyu Gardens that serves matcha and Japanese sweets
that shouldn’t be missed. Mount Takao is famous for its koyo
(autumn foliage) and is an easy day trip from Tokyo. Also
Kabukiza Theatre, which has just opened after being rebuilt,
is the place to see this traditional Japanese art form.
Japanese restaurants outside of Japan
usually have mixed menus of sushi, teriyaki,
tempura, noodles and so on, but I believe
this is not the case in Tokyo. What are the
principal categories of restaurants, and
which are the most reasonable?
There are as many styles of Japanese cuisine as
there are fish in the sea — options abound in Tokyo!
