Makowski, President and CEO ered “normal” in terms of visual acuity. It’s the St. Anthony Central Hospital standard for issuing commercial pilots licenses, given their need to see and process changing information accurately to reach their destination safely and on time. As part of Centura Health, we at St. Anthony Central Hospital are talking a lot about 2020 vision these days. While it has a great deal to do with seeing and processing changing information to reach our desired destination, it’s not about eyesight, but foresight. And it’s requiring us to think beyond “normal” in terms of care delivery. Centura Health 2020 is the course we’re setting for our next decade of service. It’s Centura’s first systemwide strategic plan, and it has been developed with the insight, expertise and energy of hundreds of our stakeholders. At the heart of the plan is the knowledge that the healthcare environment of the future will be very different than today’s, and the commitment that we will arrive ready to serve—with our mission, vision and values still at the core of our organization. Two of our early strategic actions are: • Creating systems of care that connect our facilities into a seamless, Coloradowide network of excellence. Our first focus is targeting cardiovascular, trauma and neurosciences (stroke and spine) services. • Moving “upstream” to promote wellness and preventive care to help you and your neighbors navigate your health options. Our initial efforts will address rural health outreach and primary care. As to our destination in 2020, Gary Campbell, president and CEO of Centura, says this: “We want to be the most trusted health system in Colorado. We want people to view us as their partner for life, trusting us to promote wellness, provide them with the care they need during times of illness, reach them in new and innovative ways, and even unselfishly connect them with someone who can offer them the services they need if we cannot.” 2020. In every way, we’re looking ahead.
