Community ConneCtions Old Hospital Equipment Gives New Hope to Vietnam N St. Anthony’s Legacy Continues at Sloan’s Lake When St. Anthony Hospital moved to its new Lakewood campus, a promise was made to the Sloan’s Lake community that the legacy of care would continue. And it is at St. Anthony Sloan’s Lake Health Center. Located at 4200 W. Conejos Place, in the 1st Floor Raleigh Building, St. Anthony Health Center – Primary Care Services is dedicated to providing full-family care, including: • Wellness visits • School and sports physicals • Immunizations • Sick visits and disease management • On-site X-ray services Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The dedicated physician at David Munoz, M.D. St. Anthony Sloan’s Lake Health Center is David Munoz, M.D. Most insurance plans are accepted and discounts are available for uninsured patients. ONliNE early 8,000 miles separate the old St. Anthony Central site in Colorado and Vietnam’s Bach Mai Hospital. But thanks to the generosity of Centura/St. Anthony Hospital and the tenacity of Carl Bartecchi, M.D., 50 tons of equipment that could not be used at the new St. Anthony Medical Campus have made that trans-Pacific trip. The Bach Mai Hospital has been a “sister hospital” to St. Anthony since 2004. Bartecchi, a Coloradan who served in the U.S. Army as a flight surgeon during the Vietnam conflict, oversees a training program in academic medicine for Vietnamese physicians and nurses there. He personally spearheaded fundraising for equipment transport, with $120,000 of the necessary $300,000 contributed by physicians on staff at St. Anthony Hospital. The equipment—which included everything from blood pressure cuffs and surgical instruments to operating tables, ventilators and 180 beds—arrived in Vietnam late last October. The shipment also included two motorcycle ambulances, one donated by the Evergreen Rotary and a second by Denver author Sandra Dallas.
