From the CeO
A New Era
Health care decision-making is changing,
and we're leading the way
O
ur nation is now well into Affordable Care Act
implementation. Individuals and providers alike
are experiencing a significant learning curve in
regard to coverage, costs and more. And, given the magnitude of the
change, that curve is likely to continue for some time.
What we do know-right now and with certainty-is that the emerging environment calls each of us to participate more actively in our own health decisions.
Which is why I'm excited to share with you the facts behind our recent awards
from Healthgrades, the nation's leading online resource that helps consumers
search, compare and connect with physicians and hospitals.
In the publication American Hospital Quality Outcomes 2014: Healthgrades
Report to the Nation, St. Anthony Hospital received five-star ratings for our treatment of stroke, sepsis (major infection), bowel obstruction and prostate removal
surgery. Moreover, we earned Healthgrades Excellence Awards in Stroke Care,
Critical Care and Prostate Surgeries for ranking among the top 10 percent of hospitals in the nation for each of those areas.
Considering that Healthgrades evaluates hospital performance at more than
4,500 hospitals nationwide for 31 of the most common inpatient procedures and
conditions from 2010 through 2012, it's a strong statement about St. Anthony
Hospital's quality.
Within days of receiving this news, we learned that our cardiovascular services had merited still another major recognition from the American Heart
Association (AHA). The Get With The Guidelines®-Heart Failure Gold Plus
Quality Achievement Award recognizes that the hospital has reached an exceptional goal of treating heart failure patients according to the guidelines of care
recommended by the AHA/American College of Cardiology. There is considerable evidence confirming that the rapid, regular use of these guideline procedures
improves the quality of care for heart failure patients, saving lives and lowering
the recurrence of heart attacks.
Here's to a commitment to care quality that never ends.
