Back in Action W hen Barbara Walden woke up from surgery, she knew immediately her life had improved. In October 2013, after dealing with pain and numbness in her leg for months, she made the decision to have spine surgery at North Mississippi Medical Center. "I like to be active, and I had been having problems with my pain in my leg and with my leg and foot going to sleep," Walden says. "My primary care doctor took X-rays and then sent me to a neurosurgeon." Walden saw Carl Bevering, MD, a neurosurgeon at NMMC. Together, they decided to try physical therapy first.
