Telephone conversations and the use of voicemail seem to be more outdated than ever before; instant access and messaging are now in vogue. Whether it’s a means to: reconnect with high school classmates; join a discussion of like-minded individuals with similar hobbies; or inform everyone about a lunch of hamburgers and french fries just consumed, it appears that everyone is tweeting or updating their Facebook page. While some are fans of these social networking tools and opportunities, others question their application and often-limited content. Who tweets? Should CAI have a Facebook page? Are there practical applications of LinkedIn for CAI-NE? To answer those questions and others, various chapter committees and members continue to discuss these new communication opportunities. And, over the coming months, the strategic planning task force will also consider them as part of their overall review and update of the chapter’s strategic plan.
