C A I CAI-NE Members Serve CAI National Mission he CAI Member Representation Groups (MRG) recognize the unique characteristics and needs of each membership group including professional community managers, business partners and community association volunteers. MRGs — which include the Association of Professional Community Managers (APCM) Board, Business Partners (BP) Council, and Center for Community Association Volunteers (CCAV) — give these membership groups a stronger voice in crafting national CAI policy, and provide a vehicle for making recommendations on all CAI services and benefits. Three local New England chapter members were recently elected to serve on CAI representation groups, and we congratulate them on this national achievement and for their contributions on a local as well as national level. APCM is a home for managers in the broader CAI community — a professional society that focuses on managers, their careers, jobs and professional growth for onsite, portfolio or large-scale community managers. Twelve members represent management company CEOs and all other community association manager members. Jared McNabb, CMCA, PCAM Crowninshield Management Elected to APCM Board CAI-NE immediate past president, Jared McNabb, CMCA, PCAM, was elected by CAI members in a national vote to the APCM board. McNabb is a professional community association manager who has earned the highest professional designation — Professional Community Association Manager (PCAM) — awarded by the institute. An active member of CAINE, he has chaired the membership committee since 2005, was recipient of the CAI-NE Recruiter of the Year Award in 2006 and was recipient of the CAI National Award of Excellence in Membership for 2007-2008. Having served as chapter president in 2009, he will assume the responsibility of 2010 Condo Media president. Heather Cozby, CPA Cozby & Bruno LLC Elected to Business Partners Council Heather Cozby’s career-long commitment to the community association industry and condominium associations spans more than a decade. During her initial public accounting training, she was employed by a firm specializing in condominiums. And, when she started her own firm, she made a decision to continue to work in this unique industry and act as an advocate whenever possible. Over the past few years, she has been active in the chapter and has spoken at various chapter programs. As a business council member, Cozby looks forward to the opportunity to work with other members on a national level and discuss the current issues facing condominiums around the country and to continue to be an advocate on behalf of the industry. Henry Goodman, Esq. Goodman, Shapiro & Lombardi, LLC Elected to second term on Business Partners Council Founding member and previous director of the CAI New England Chapter, Goodman was elected to a second term on the Business Partners Council. He is twice past president of the New England chapter and, in his years of service to the chapter, has served a total of 10 years as a chapter director. A longstanding member of the program advisory council, he has previously chaired that committee and also has served as chair of the attorneys’ committee a number of times. He is a member of the Massachusetts Legislative Action Committee (MALAC), and has attended numerous national conferences and law seminars. An active local chapter member, he is a frequent chapter speaker and Condo Media author. N e w s T Business Partners Council Meeting the Membership Needs of Product & Services Providers and Professionals Representing CAI business partner members, the council is made up of 12 members and gives input on policy matters to CAI’s board of trustees. In addition, the council elects business partner members for seats on CAI’s board of trustees and makes recommendations to the nominating committee regarding at-large seats on the board. Responsible for making recommendations on education curriculum, designations and best practices, the council also provides input and makes recommendations to the CEO and national staff. Association of Professional Community Managers (APCM) Board Inspiring Excellence in Community Management Community managers are the professional backbone of the communities they serve, providing the knowledge and expertise that is crucial to the successful management and operation of associations. The APCM board was created to give CAI manager members added advantages on the job, in their professional careers and in the community association marketplace. CONDO MEDIA • JANUARY 2010
