(215) 321-9662 FROM THE CED’S DESK The Official Publication of CAI New England Spring Renewal s New England continues to weather one of the mildest winters in recent memory, Condo Media editorial board and staff attention is turned to the annual Spring-Summer Maintenance issue and directory. With anticipation, many of us look forward to the continued warm and sunny days spring promises, and the colorful flowered landscapes that accompany it. But with the arrival of spring, comes often-dreaded clean-up and building maintenance. From removal of winter sand and salt from streets and sidewalks to fertilization and planting of grass and annuals, landscape becomes a priority for many New England communities. In addition, associations turn their attention to building issues big and small, from spot repair and maintenance to capital improvements and replacement projects. This month’s issue offers something for every reader and every association, from the cover story providing essential insight for boards in writing and negotiating construction contracts to articles on cost-effective solutions for landscape and exterior maintenance. And as some associations prepare to ready community pools, new requirements under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) will challenge boards as they seek to understand how to comply with the new regulations. Finally, the ever-popular Spring-Summer Service Directory will provide associations with a starting point for seeking service providers to address the variety of maintenance issues that will inevitably arise in the coming months. Spring is a season of renewal for individual owners and communities.
