Ask a Busy Person Enthusiastic Educator GETTING TO KNOW BRENDAN C. FLANAGAN Insurance Advisor, Bouvier Insurance WHAT DID YOU WANT TO BE WHEN YOU GREW UP? Just like most young men growing up in New England, I would have loved to be the shortstop for the Red Sox. Once I fi gured out that that was slightly out of reach, I simply wanted to be successful and make the world a better place. The way I've been able to do that is by helping people and businesses with their fi nancials. I take pride in knowing folks are insured to the fullest degree and indemnifi ed for what they have. That's a good feeling. The younger version of me would be happy that I'm able to do things like that right now. HOW DID YOU WIND UP IN THE CONDOMINIUM INDUSTRY? Bouvier Insurance specializes in condominiums and homeowners' associations. It's a family business, so I've known the folks on the board most all my life. I got into it through family but stayed because it's interesting to me. Not many younger people have made the decision to become an insurance professional. I'm 31, and I still consider myself young, so I'm going to hold onto that title for as long as I can. It's a good way to make a living. WHAT DO YOU LIKE BEST ABOUT THE INDUSTRY? Assisting associations to navigate various coverage issues and coordinating with condominium documents. Condominiums are not a monolith - there are nuances to each one, and it's important to understand those differences. I also enjoy hosting " lunch-and-learns " to educate property managers and provide an understanding of risk-transfer solutions. WHAT PROMPTED YOU TO BECOME INVOLVED WITH CAI? CAI'S REPUTATION FOR BEING AN INDUSTRY-LEADING ORGANIZATION FOR COAS AND THEIR RELATED VENDORS. OUR AGENCY HAS 11 OFFICES, AND ALL THE MARKETS WE GO TO SPECIALIZE WITHIN THE CONDOMINIUM SPACE. CAI IS A HUGE PART OF THE INDUSTRY AND OF AN EVEN GREATER IMPORTANCE TO MY FIELD. I MOVED UP TO MASSACHUSETTS TO OPEN A NEW OFFICE AND SPEARHEAD OUR REPRESENTATION IN THE NEW ENGLAND CHAPTER, ALONG WITH A FEW OF MY COLLEAGUES. 38 CONDOMEDIA July 2022
