MEMbER PRoFilE K atIe noga A Mentor in the Aftermarket Her longevity in the aftermarket, her career accomplishments, her leadership capabilities and dedication to the automotive aftermarket industry have earned Katie Noga, manager, marketing communications, SKF, the 2010 Car Care Council Women’s Board “Aftermarket Woman of the Year” award. Noga, whose father owned a fullservice garage/gas station, grew up in an aftermarket family. However, it wasn’t until 1978 that she began working in the industry. After attending a local community college, Noga gained valuable on-the-job experience working in sales administration at Maremont Exhaust and Gabriel Shock Absorbers. After a few years, she became marketing manager for Maremont and Gabriel brands, as well as several private label products. “I have been fortunate to work with numerous successful mentors and have participated in many management and higher educational classes. It is important to never stop learning,” said Noga. As past president and current member of the Automotive Communication Council (ACC) and Car Care Council Women’s Board, Noga has been able to be a mentor as well. She constantly encourages young people to consider the aftermarket as their career choice. “As baby boomers turn 65 in 2011, the lack of young men and women considering a career in this industry will become an even greater issue and the urgency to enlighten high school counselors and parents on opportunities afforded by the aftermarket will be critical,” said Noga.
