MEMbER PRoFilE roger mCCollum Embracing Change, Seeking Solutions Roger McCollum has four longterm goals, both professionally and personally: “To be creative and have fun, to listen and serve others, to embrace change, and to be engaged and part of the solution.” Graduating from the University of Akron in his hometown with a business degree in marketing, McCollum initially had no intention of entering the aftermarket. “Although my dad managed a parts store in Akron and I worked there through school I didn’t aspire to go in the aftermarket,” said McCollum. “I just needed a job after I graduated and the best, actually only, opportunity for me came from a local aftermarket company Ken-Tool. A great guy named Scott Myer took a chance on me which in time led me to another great guy Neal Williams. I’m forever grateful to them both.” After 34 years in the industry, McCollum is currently president and CEO of N.A. Williams, an eight-location manufacturers’ representative agency founded in 1934. “My partners’ and my role, along with our staff in Atlanta, is to provide guidance, support and opportunity to our teammates as they work to accomplish the objectives of our manufacturers and customers.” McCollum has personally been active in giving back to the industry through AAIA for the past 10 years. He is a new AAIA board member, and currently a member of both the Manufacturers’ Representatives segment, AWDA Board of Governors and AAIA Show committee. “Our segment serves to advance the interests and value of the rep profession. It’s a great chance to better understand customer needs and expectations, and communicate best practices back to our rep firm members,” said McCollum. “I also really enjoy being a part of the Show committee. AAPEX is so important to our company and to AAIA overall.” McCollum is also active on the board of the Automotive Aftermarket Association Southeast and with a committee of the United Way of Metropolitan Atlanta. Following the monumental victory with Right to Repair passing in Massachusetts, McCollum hopes the industry is on its way to a national solution to what he thinks is one of the biggest issues in the aftermarket – information availability for independents. If he wasn’t in the aftermarket, McCollum finds that hard to imagine... “I’ve never done anything else.” Roge R MccolluM POsitiOn : President and CEO, N.A.
