The cover feature story of this issue of Aftermarket Insider shines a spotlight on several exemplary industry professionals, as well as member companies and new innovative products. Many studies have been conducted over the years to learn what truly motivates people in their job – what do people value the most. The results are usually the same: for most employees, the financial rewards are not as important as the professional recognition. It’s the acknowledgement and praise and credit for outstanding work that means so much to people. In case you miss the quote in the feature story, I just have to repeat it here: “There are two things people want more than sex and money… recognition and praise,” according to Mary Kay Ash, American businesswoman and founder of Mary Kay Cosmetics. As the article so eloquently and sensitively points out, while there’s little the association can do about the sex and money, we can recognize and praise deserving individuals and member companies.
