ahePa family chaPter news DISTRICT 7 CHAPTER 110 District 7 DISTRICT 4 CHAPTER 60 District 4 AHEPA Chapter 60, Bethlehem, Pa.—The chapter held its 1,000th meeting on Oct. 11, 2009, at which the Brothers honored Past Supreme President George P. Gabriel. U.S. Rep. Charles Dent (R-PA), a Brother Ahepan, was also in attendance. Supreme Treasurer Col. Nicholas P. Vamvakias represented the AHEPA Supreme Lodge and presented Past Supreme President Gabriel with a plaque commemorating his 54 years as an Ahepan and for his continued support of the Order. The Rose of New England Chapter 110, Norwich, Conn.—The chapter conducted a successful five-month truck raffle that concluded September 30. Seventy members of the chapter participated making it the most successful fundraiser in the chapter’s history. Ahepans from all across the country supported the raffle. DISTRICT 10 CHAPTER 40 District 10 AHEPA Alpha Chapter 40, Bloomfield Hills, Mich.—The chapter presented its 2009 Hellenic Heritage Awards at a ceremony that was part of the Greek Independence weekend activities held March 29, 2009, at Royalty House, Warren, Mich. Brothers Nick Georges (second from left) and Dr. Eleftherios Botsas (second from right) were recipients. Brother George Reganis (far right) served as the event’s chairperson. Not pictured are District 10 Governors (AHEPA and DOP) Peter Tecos and his wife Olga, who donated, assembled and set-up sixty flower centerpieces and arrangements for the awards banquet. The Hellenic Heritage Award is given in recognition of the diligent and successful endeavors in promoting the values of Greek civilization, Orthodox Faith, Hellenic culture and heritage over many years in our region. In addition, the award recipients accompanied the Grand Marshal as Honorary Marshals during this year’s Detroit Greek Independence parade. DISTRICT 5 District 5 John G. Thevos District 5, New Jersey and Delware—Mass initiations were held on Oct. 14, 2009, under the leadership of District 5 Governor Phil Vogis and his District 5 Lodge. Past Supreme Governor Louis Arvanitis also assisted. Supreme President Nicholas A. Karacostas officiated the ceremony. Supreme Governor John Mesigiotis also was present. District 5 has taken an aggressive approach to membership this year, scheduling three mass initiations before the end of 2009. the ahepan Fall 2009 www.ahepa.org
