housiNg ANHC Reaches from Coast to Coast with Dedication of San Bernardino Property By George Anagnostos, PSS SAN BERNARDINO, CALIF.– Two dreams were brought to realization with the culmination of a single event: the Ahepans of Arrowhead Chapter 302, San Bernardino, formally dedicated their 90-unit apartment building in the HUD 202 program for the low-income elderly on March 5, 2009; the AHEPA National Housing Corp. (ANHC) which had co-sponsored the project, realized its goal of expanding its properties from coast to coast. The previous westward push had progressed as far as Iowa and New Mexico. The dedication marks the ANHC’s 76th completed property with 12 other properties in various stages of completion. The property received total grants of $12.7 million from HUD and with assistance from the City of San Bernardino, the chapter and over 30 individuals. In the words of Dr. Anthony Theodorou, president of the San Bernardino 302 Apartments Board, the location has a spectacular seasonal view of the San Bernardino Mountains, ranging from lush green to snow-capped white. The building contains a large community room, library, gym, computer room, arts and crafts room, and also a large garden area on the property.
