Maybe it was the blend of its cosmopolitan attributes with a friendliness you would find in Small Town USA. Or was it the fact that it had been 50 years since the AHEPA family held its Supreme Convention there? Whatever it was, Montreal did not disappoint the attendees of the 88th Annual Supreme Convention. A feeling of fellowship, family, and sheer joy resonated all throughout the week even when, or where, you least expected it. However, the traditional convention business also was conducted. In this scope, AHEPA delegates re-elected Nicholas A. Karacostas to be their supreme president. “Words cannot express how humbled and honored I am to be re-elected AHEPA Supreme President,” said Karacostas, who will look to build on the significant grassroots momentum generated during his first term due to programs like the “United We Serve” Initiative. He continued, “I look forward to working with our new Supreme Lodge, which will be an experienced one, and the entire membership to keep AHEPA on the steady path set forth by my predecessors. There are many challenges facing the community, and new ones will emerge. However, I’m confident we will strive to overcome them together in the true spirit to our mission.” Bienvenue! Montreal’s City Hall was a picturesque venue for Opening Ceremonies. Accompanied by Past Canadian President and Convention General Chairman Xenophon Scoufaras and Montreal City Councilor Mary Deros, Supreme President Karacostas welcomes the AHEPA family delegates to the city.
