athletiCs Midwest Golfers Shine at National Golf Tournament The Monthe N. Kofos Memorial Golf Tournament held at Innisbrook Resort near Tarpon Springs Fla., April 13-17, 2010, featured 106 participants from across the country. The weather was ideal and the competition fierce. However, it was the golfers from the Midwest that made the biggest impression capturing overall tournament honors in the categories of Gross, Net, and Senior Net. Aristotelis Panousis, Ind., placed first in overall Gross; Dino Vainalis, Mo., captured the Net championship; and Bill Theodore, Ill., won top honors for Senior Net. National Regional Champions were: George Panousis, Ind., for Gross; and Spiros Siaggas, Ga., for Net. Larry Fillipi, Ill., won in the Guest category. Flight Net winners were: Steve Haidemenos, Wisc., Steve Itsenis, Wisc., Thomas Diamond, Ill., Peter Bizios, Ill., Jim Letsos, Ill., Andrew Armatas, Colo., Christ Kostouros, Ind., and Harry Lemakis, Mo. The four courses at the resort were in top condition and the famed Copperhead & Island courses challenged all golfers. Special thanks goes to National Golf Director Christ Atsaves, Ill., and Regional Directors Likie Beleos, S.C., Charles Mardis, Ohio, Supreme Governor Jim Peros, Colo., and Gus Pantelides, Fla., for putting on a first class affair. Past Supreme Presidents Jim Scofield, John Economou, and Franklin Manios treated the after-tournament banquet with their singing skills. Plans are being finalized for next year’s event at the Gold Canyon Golf Resort outside of Phoenix, Ariz. It is scheduled for March 28 to April 3. Overall Gross Champ A. Kofos Memorial Golf Tournament came from across the country. Thermopylae Chapter Hosts 33rd Annual Track Meet AHEPA Thermopylae Chapter 445, Upper Darby, Pa., sponsored the 33rd Annual James D. Tanos/Theofilos Constantinides AHEPA Track meet in Upper Darby. Since 1977, Chapter 445 has hosted this annual athletic event. Chapter President John Kambouroglou and members of his committee organized a fun-filled day for the athletes, who participate from communities in southeastern Pennsylvania. SAVE THE DATE!
