The Newest Thing in Ancient History: The New National Hellenic Museum By NHM Executive Director Stephanie Vlahakis had the distinct honor and pleasure to attend this year’s National AHEPA Convention in Montreal, Canada, to make a presentation to the members about “the newest thing in ancient history,” the new National Hellenic Museum currently under construction in Chicago’s Greektown neighborhood. The AHEPA members present at the convention voted to make the National Hellenic Museum their number one fundraising endeavor with the objective to raise enough money to pay for a prominent naming opportunity in the new Museum. I 1 The new National Hellenic Museum is the only major museum in the United States dedicated to telling the story of Greek history, culture, and art from ancient times to today.
