hOUsiNG Winthrop Chapter, New London, Dedicates its Fifth Housing Property All Housing articles by George Anagnostos, PSS The Ahepans of Winthrop Chapter 250 proudly dedicated their fifth property in the HUD 202 program for the elderly low-income. This property is clustered with its first and fourth property in Niantic, Conn. The property is a three-story 52-unit building that was approved in the FY2008 program. This brings the total of units within the control of the Board to 250 to match its chapter number. The ceremonies took place on a cool, crisp autumn day with a large crowd in attendance. Board President E. P. Terry Mitchell was the master of ceremonies and Rev. M. D. O’Donnell, St. Agnes Church, gave the invocation. Presenting remarks were: Pres. Mitchell, D. Tasoulas, pres. Chapter 250; E. Moshovos, District 7 governor; L. Atsaves, supreme governor, Region. 6; R. Hardy, Town of East Lyme; E. Jutila, Conn. Rep.; A. Sullivan, Conn. Senator; Consultant E. Smith; P. Hulse, pres. AMC; A. Poly, CEO, AMC; J. Grossomanides, supreme vice pres.; J. Fagan, dir. Conn. multi family housing and Metropolitan Methodios, Diocese of Boston. All remarked that the building was an excellent testament to the AHEPA, the chapter and the builders. It was particularly cited for the speed in its execution having taken just a bout a year to complete. Special presentations were made to the architect Peter Argiros, Paul Haynes and James Tice of the construction group, Julie Fagan of HUD and Elmer Smith, consultant. Metropolitan Methodios conducted the Blessing of the building assisted by Revs. Dean Panagos and Charles Simones, St. Sophia Church, New London, Conn. Rev. Page Rogers, Rector, St. John’s Episcopal Church gave the Benediction. A gala catered reception followed within the building. In addition to Pres. Mitchell, Board members include: D. District One Housing’s Elderly Treated to Halloween Party The District One project’s Board of Directors treated their residents in Hoover, Ala., to a Halloween Party complete with costumes and appropriate food on All Hallows Eve, October 30. This is the third year that the Board has hosted this popular event. A contest was held for the best costumes. Members of the Board include: Chris Kapetanakos, president; Francis Constantine, vice pres.; Irene Fotos, secretary; Audrey Marianes, treasurer and Directors John Boosalis; Constantine Zouboukos, Jim Pafudakis, Ted Kipreos and Patty Chrysostom, District One governors; and Nick Stratas and Jim Mitchell, ANHC. The happy residents now look forward to the Christmas Party in December. The Board held a meeting there after the party concluded. Serving the residents, are from left: J. Boosalis; C.
