AhepA FAmily ChApter News District 4 AHEPA Thermopylae Chapter 445, Upper Darby, Pa.—After years of dormancy, the chapter reinstated its Sons of Pericles Titan Chapter 290. Ten new members joined the Sons of Pericles as the AHEPA District 4 Lt. Governor John Kambouroglou and AHEPA Executive Director Basil N. Mossaidis, past supreme president of the Sons of Pericles and former member of Titan Chapter 290, assisted with the initiation. District 1 AHEPA Chapter 242, Greenville, S.C.—The chapter held a ribbon-cutting for the dedication of the AHEPA Family Center at which more than 400 persons attended on October 17, 2010. With $225,000 in its treasury, the chapter wanted to allocated the funds to benefit the youth of the community. As a result, the chapter pledged $500,000, of which $310,000 has been contributed, to build the AHEPA Family Center. The center includes a gymnasium. Past District 1 Governor Chris Kapetanakos chaired the ceremony. Supreme Treasurer Col. Nick Vamvakias attended. AHEPA Worthington Chapter 30, Baltimore, Md.— The chapter held its 15th Annual Veterans Day Luncheon on November 14, 2010. AHEPA has always held their military veterans in high esteem, and Chapter 30 continues to honor those who have served their country, both living and deceased, whether it be for service to the US, Greece, or Cyprus. This year’s observance also included veterans from their Sister Chapter, Lord Baltimore 364. John Stathopoulos has been the chairman of the Veterans Committee for most of these years, and with the help of the others in the committee, has always managed to assemble an interesting and enjoyable affair. Also at the luncheon, the chapter awarded scholarships to six worthy students. Also, on October 27, 2010, Brothers from across Capital District 3 gathered at Ikaros Restaurant in Baltimore in honor of Supreme President Nicholas Karacostas. Supreme Governor Dr. Pete Nickolas emceed the program, which was attended by Supreme Treasurer Col. Nick Vamvakias, Executive Director Basil Mossaidis, District 3 Governor Steve Mavronis, other District officers and guests. Brother Bill Bond, president, Worthington Chapter No. 30, presented a check for $300 from his Chapter for the administration of AHEPA PAC. District 5 AHEPA Chapter 95, Wilmington, Del.—During a recent visit to the AHEPA Odyssey Charter School in Wilmington, Chapter 95 President John Tarabicos presented a $5,000 donation to the school for its ongoing programs that benefit all children of the community. District 3 AHEPA Chapter 28, Asheville, N.C.—Supreme Treasurer Col. Nick Vamvakias met with the Brethren of Chapter 28 and attended a fundraising event for the chapter’s numerous charitable and community-based programs. AHEPA Thomas Edison Chapter 287, Asbury Park, N.J.—Supreme President Nicholas A. Karacostas visited the chapter to present Brother Savas Tsivikos with the 2010 Chapter 20 the ahepan Winter 2010-11
