Congressman McIntyre, an Ahepan, One of First Members to Meet with New Greek Prime Minister
U.S. Rep. Mike McIntyre (D-NC), a member of AHEPA Chapter 9, Fayetteville, N.C., was one of the first members of Congress to meet with new Greek Prime Minister George Papandreou when the Congressman visited Athens in October 2009 as part of a four-member delegation representing the Commission on Security and Cooperation in Europe (CSCE). Congressman McIntyre commented on the visit, “I was pleased to be among the first foreign officials to visit with the new Greek Prime Minister. The meeting was very positive and productive. As a senior member of the U.S. House Armed Services Committee, I was also grateful to have the opportunity to express appreciation to the Prime Minister and other officials for their assistance in our counter-terrorism efforts and military operations in the region. Greece has a key role to play in the security and stability of the Mediterranean region, and I look forward to our continuing relationship on these and other matters.” Rep. McIntyre recently met with Past Supreme President Dr. Spiro Macris, who chairs the AHEPA Cyprus and Hellenic Affairs Committee, to discuss issues of importance to the Greek American community.
