More than 200 persons attended the event, which received mainstream broadcast media coverage, including the local CBS, NBC, and FOX affiliates and NY1; and print coverage in Religion News Service. Local lawmakers also participated, including Assemblywoman Nicole Malliotakis. In addition, AHEPA continued to call for Governors Andrew Cuomo and Chris Christie to “Cut the Red Tape” of bureaucracy at the Port Authority. Negotiations to rebuild St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, the only house of worship destroyed in the attacks of September 11, between the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America and church representatives and the Port Authority of New York/New Jersey came to a halt in August 2010.
