AthletiCs Southeast Regional Golf Tourney Raises $4K for Scholarships More than 60 Ahepans and friends of AHEPA participated at the 38th Annual AHEPA SE Regional Golf Tournament, September 18, 2011, at the Dunedin Golf & Country Club. Following golf, the participants and guests enjoyed a wonderful dinner and awards ceremony. As a result of this fundraising event, more than $4,000 was raised for the AHEPA Family Scholarship Fund from golf fees, donations and hole sponsorships. We wish to thank the tournament committee and all those who participated in this event, including the donors and hole sponsors, for their very generous donations. Ahepans enjoyed a day on the links all for a good cause. But this year was different. Kowalski left the tournament $10,000 richer, paid by a hole in one insurance policy, after landing an ace at the designated prize hole during this charity golf event. This tournament is held each year to raise money for AHEPA Senior Housing, AHEPA Scholarship Fund and various local Charities. This year’s local charity was The Children’s Cancer Fund of New Mexico. AHEPA was able to donate $4,000 of its net proceeds to help The Children’s Cancer Fund of New Mexico. The Children’s Cancer Fund of New Mexico exists to help children and their families cope with the day-to-day emotional, financial, and educational needs of living with and fighting cancer. Kowalski, who works at Premier Distributing – a major sponsor – was one of more than 140 participants who combined their passion for golf with a desire to help raise money for these very worthwhile causes and charity. Charity golf tournament organizers George Piches and Marcus Cassimus say they are absolutely thrilled that someone hit a holein-one and won the Grand prize. “We are excited for Chris and are amazed at his accomplishment,” they stated. “Of course, we are also excited about what Chris’ hole-in-one and the prize will mean for the future of our charity golf event.” Golf Hole Sponsors Alex Alexander – Tony Aloizakis – Michael Bounos - George Cantonis – Richie & Sheryl Garcia – Hyundai of New Port Richey - Steve Kambouris – George Kolitsopoulos – Dr. George Kostakis – Markos Lagos – George Marangos – Deno Mighion – Moss Feaster Funeral Homes – Michael Pantel – Gus Pantelides – Sandy Papadakis – John Petalas – George Psetas – Joanne Sackedis – Bill Sioutis – Gus Stefanadis – Sonja Stefanadis – The Golden Greeks - Alex Theofanis – Jody & Stephanie Thompson – Dr. Stanton Tripodis – John Tsacrios – John Tsagaris – Steve Tsagaris – Gus Varonides – Dr. Theodore Vlahos 26 the ahepan Winter 2011-12 www.ahepa.org http://www.ahepa.org
