THE JOURNEY CONTINUES The Eighth Annual AHEPA Journey to Greece Summer Program SESSION 1: June 25-July 13, 2013 SESSION 2: July 16-August 3, 2013 SESSIONS 1 & 2: June 25-August 3, 2013 A HEPA is pleased to announce its eighth annual Journey to Greece summer program in partnership with the University of Indianapolis. The program is open exclusively to AHEPA members and their families. Set in Athens, Greece, the program offers college students up to 12 transferable credits. Participating students will study Greece’s unique culture, history, art, politics, and religion through courses and fun cultural excursions that include Modern Greek Language, Greek History and Politics, Greek Policy and Mass Media, and visits to sites of interest in the Peloponnese, Thessaly, Macedonia, and the Greek islands. The University of Indianapolis is a fully accredited American university. Its Athens campus was founded in 1989 and today offers 29 undergraduate and 10 graduate programs. Situated at the foot of the Acropolis, the campus is an ideal launching point for students. Many of the city’s most renowned museums are just minutes from the university. Credits from this program are transferable to students’ own universities. Since 2005 more than 78 colleges and universities have accepted credits from the Journey to Greece program. The two sessions are not repetitive; therefore students can participate in one or both sessions. Also, because new courses are being offered in 2013, the program is open to participants from previous years. Cost per session is $3,945 and includes tuition, accommodations (complete with kitchen, laundry facilities, and internet), one meal a day, excursions, plus other expenses. That’s less than $700 per credit hour—a fraction of what tuition costs at many colleges today. For the first 40 students to register, AhepA will cover the cost of airfare (up to $1500 per ticket.) Students who participate in both sessions receive a reduced rate of less than $600 per credit hour. Not only is this program an incredible bargain, it’s a rewarding opportunity for students to be introduced to Greece in a safe and nurturing environment. This is a wonderful opportunity for AHEPA youth to spend four to eight weeks in Greece earning college credit, exploring their heritage, and creating new friendships! In the words of past participants “No one will ever understand how much this trip meant to me. I met some of the most wonderful people in the world that I will never forget. I am so proud to be Greek.” —Kellie Noyes “This Journey meant a lot to me. It was my first opportunity to see the country of my ancestors, and it was beautiful. I am the first one in my generation to come to Greece. On a social level, the trip was amazing. I have made many friends and these are friendships that I believe will last past this trip.” —Jonathan macomber 18 The AhepAN Winter 2012
