Civic Responsibility AHEPA Congressional Scorecard Helps to Educate Electorate In anticipation of the 2012 Election, AHEPA released its 2012 Congressional Scorecard for the 112th Congress on issues of importance to the American Hellenic community. “We were presented with an opportunity to educate the American Hellenic community about the level of support members of Congress have toward issues that are important to the community,” said Supreme President Dr. John Grossomanides. “If anything, the scorecard may be the best indicator of how well legislators are aware of, or are engaged in, our issues.” Dr. Grossomanides encouraged the community to outreach to members of Congress to thank them if they are supportive on the issues, or conversely, to inquire why they are disengaged. “Because the success of government depends on an engaged and educated citizenry, we were proud to provide the community with this helpful tool,” said Dr. Grossomanides. Dr. Grossomanides encouraged community members to utilize and share the scorecard with their family, friends and colleagues even well after the election. “The scorecard provides us with an idea of where we can do better with certain legislators come the new 113th Congress in January,” he added. 2012 AHEPA Congressional Scorecard 2.
